Anxiously Waiting in Washington

The Washington state Supreme Court has announced that it will release its decision on same-sex marriage Wednesday morning. People all across the country have been anxiously waiting to see if Washington will become the second state to legalize gay marriage.
The announcement will be made at
11:00(EST). I will post the news as soon as I hear it. You can also check out the Washington court's website here. Equal Rights Washington is planning events around the state where people will gather to either celebrate or protest the court's decision.
A few weeks ago
New York's highest court ruled against same-sex marriage. Anti-gay organizations around the country called the New York decision the "Gettysburg" in the gay marriage war. The president of the conservative Marriage Law Foundation actually said, "When people look back and write the history of this issue, they will view the New York decision as the Gettysburg in this big contest." Hopefully tomorrows ruling will prove them wrong.
If the court in
Washington rules in favor of allowing gays and lesbians to marry it will be a huge victory for us. By becoming the second state in the country to allow gay marriage it will take some of the heat of Massachusetts. It will also force anti-gay marriage organizations to split their efforts and money between both states.
There will be a lot of people with their fingers crossed tonight. Let's hope the court in
Washington does the right thing.
